The
print edition of The Afro News is a 24 page tabloid size newspaper, based
in Vancouver BC, published by Privilege Group Holdings, and distributed across
Canada. Since its humble beginnings as a 1 page newsletter in 1985, the
publication has evolved into an international award-winning community
newspaper. Staffed completely by volunteers, The Afro News is published
monthly without the assistance of any major private or government funding.
Each issue
of The Afro News, deals with occurrences in the Black communities of BC,
Canada and worldwide. Included are regular features on sports, finance,
current events, opinions and the arts. Subscribers from around the globe
are treated to unbiased pertinent information not always carried by the
mainstream press. Archives of the newspaper are held by national institutions
in Ottawa, Vancouver and Wisconsin.
